Pro-Arc Builders designs, moulds, casts and installs GRG, GRC and FRP domes, ceilings and screens, and delivers the general building, civil and infrastructure work around them. One company from the first site visit to handover. Shah Alam and Kuantan, since 1996.
01 · One dome, piece by piece
Twelve point six metres across, and every piece accounted for.
The main dome we designed and built for the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. It comes apart into the pieces we made, then goes back together in the order we built it.

12.6 m across, finished in cast FRP over the existing structure.

As found
The existing drum and dome. We began by cleaning the old dome and hacking off its brick facing.

Steel frame
Fabricated, galvanised and fixed around the drum to carry the band and the muqarnas.

Calligraphy band
Twenty-two cast panels of 1.8 m carrying Surah An-Nur, verse 35.

Muqarnas
Sixty-four cast units and the coping above them.

Top dome
Ten FRP segments from four master moulds, cast February 2023, painted August 2023, complete on the roof September 2023.
02 · Hold a lamp to it
The light that hides nothing.
A plasterer checks a finished surface by holding a lamp almost flat against it. Light that low throws every ridge, joint and hollow into shadow, so a bad joint has nowhere to hide.
Move your cursor or finger across the panel, or tilt your phone, and the lamp moves with you. It is the check we make on our own joints before handover.
03 · What we do
Six packages. One site team answers for all of them.
General building construction and Design & Build are the frame that holds these together: the contract under which a mosque committee, a government owner or a main contractor can hand over the whole piece and deal with one company.
FRP domes and moulded elements
Domes, shells and moulded forms in fibreglass reinforced polymer: light enough to lift onto a finished roof, strong enough to stand in the weather for decades.

Dome ceilings, coffers, wall relief and columns in glass reinforced gypsum, cast from our own moulds and finished so the joints disappear.
